Transition

One of our main reasons for writing at this point is to inform you of a big change that is happening in our lives. Thursday night we told the church here in Fortaleza that over the next 6 months we will be transitioning out of leadership and our role as missionaries. Back in October, we felt God calling us to let go, step out and see others flourish in the work that we are doing now. We have been processing this transition with our US leaders, as well as the head pastors here, Victor and Vânia. It was a bittersweet moment to tell the church this news on Thursday. However, as we look at the people we have been walking alongside since September 2005, it is very rewarding to see their growth and we feel a great peace about the transition. We are excited along with them concerning the church's future and ours.

We still have some details to work out, but with each step, things are taking shape. Last fall we purchased a house near the beach in a place outside of Fortaleza called Porto das Dunas. It is a 20 minute drive, through one outlaying town and into the next. One of our purposes was to offer a place of retreat for the church. As we anticipate living there, we look forward to maintaining relationship with the Fortaleza church. However, things will change as we will no longer be DOVE Missionaries nor will we be living across the street from the church. Both of us are looking forward to an extended time of sabbatical in which we will be investing in our own personal development, education, well being and family. We are also open to what God has in store for us with our neighbours and the people we have already begun to befriend. Computer work and English Teaching will also continue to be areas of involvement.

PLEASE pray for us, for Victor and Vânia as they continue to lead, and for the people of DOVE Fortaleza. It always takes time to get used to the idea of change. As well, pray for those who will be growing into new roles over the next months.

PS. Looking forward to hearing your comments on our blog!!!
PPS. Let us know if you have a blog so that we can follow along.
